School for Student Leadership - Our Aims. Our Mission.
Jacqui Broughton

Jacqui BroughtonI started working at the School for Student Leadership in 2007 (The Alpine School Campus). It was at this point that I fell in love with teaching once again. I immediately had a close connection to the environment, found myself passionate about the program I was teaching and enjoyed working with like- minded people.

At the beginning of 2012 I took family leave. Now I find myself returning to a wonderful work opportunity once again. I still fully believe that year 9 students who take part in the School for Student Leadership program are experiencing something wonderful and are learning life- long leadership skills.

I live in Freeburgh with my partner Dean and our 2 boys Nyoka and Shem. Our border collie/kelpie cross, 2 cats and chooks. I enjoy baking, gardening, knitting, taking photos, mountain bike riding, hiking, camping, snow skiing and being with my family.

Some adventurous things about me: I recently completed a 7 day hike along the Overland track in Tasmania. In 2005 I spent a month in Africa on a safari tour. I have been diving with great white sharks.

School For Student Leadership

School for Student Leadership is a Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) initiative offering a unique residential education experience for year nine students. The curriculum focuses on personal development and team learning projects sourced from students' home regions. There are four campuses in iconic locations across Victoria. The Alpine School Campus is located at Dinner Plain in the Victorian Alps. Snowy River Campus is near the mouth of the Snowy River at Marlo in east Gippsland. The third site is adjacent to Mount Noorat near Camperdown in Victoria’s Western District, and is called Gnurad-Gundidj. After consultation with the local aboriginal community, this name represents both the indigenous name of the local area and an interpretation of the statement "belonging to this place". Our fourth and newest campus, Don Valley Campus is located at Don Valley in the Yarra Ranges.
